BATTLE IN THE AIR
ATTACK ON VALENCIA RAIDERS DRIVEN OFF THOUSANDS OF SPECTATOR? MADRID, Dec. 4 Thousands of people for half an hour watched a spectacular battle over Valencia this morning. Airmen in 26 Italian and. German bombers tried to fly over the city, but 10 Government aeroplanes met the raiders on the outskirts and drove them off after they had dropped 250 bombs on the port area and coastal villages, killing 19 civilians.
FOREIGN VOLUNTEERS CATALONIAN FRONT 5000 BEING REPATRIATED (Received December 5, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 5 The Spanish War Withdrawals Commission reports that all the foreign volunteers on the Catalonian front, numbering 5000, are going home, says the Geneva correspondent of the News Chronicle.
