OFFENCE AT WHANGAREI [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday The taking of oysters in the Whaiigarei Harbour 011 September '29 led to the appearance of Henry Hughes in the Whangarei Magistrate's Court today. Through his solicitor, Mr. D. Ross, Hughes plended guilty, but said that lie did not know that 110 was doing wrong in taking the oysters: in fact, he made no attempt to hide them when approached by an inspector. "There has not been a charge of this nature in this Court for many years," said Mr. Ross, when pleading for a light fine. "In view of the circumstances mentioned by Mr. Ross, I will make the fine 10s, with costs los 6d, and solicitor's fee, £1 Is," said Mr. J. Morling, S.M.
