PARIS PARLEYS

PREMIER'S STATEMENT NO NEW COMMITMENTS POLICIES IN ACCORD PEACE THE OBJECTIVE Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright British Wireless RUGBY, Nov. '2B The Prime Minister, Mr. Chamberlain, was asked in the House of Commons to-day whether Bx'itain, in certain circumstances, was committed to send expeditionary forces to France, and whether as a result of his visit to Paris there had been any increase in such commitments. He replied: "The answer is in the negative."

Mr. Chamberlain also told the Leader of the Labour Opposition, Mr. C. B. Attlee, that no decisions were made at Paris regarding defence which involved obligations for Britain. In a statement on the Paris talks, Mr. Chamberlain said: "Tho Foreign Secretary, Viscount Halifax, and I were very glad to accept the cordial invitation of the French Government to visit Paris and take advantage of tho opportunity of resuming conversations with French Ministers.

"I should like to express our warm appreciation of tho very gratifying welcome we received from the French Government and tho people of Paris.

"Views were exchanged on tho principal questions in which our two countries have common concern, including matters of national defence as well as diplomatic action. Wo found ourselves in complete agreement on general policy, which in both cases finds its main objective in tho preservation and consolidation of peace. "As the purposo of our meeting was to exchange views rather than to make decisions, I am not in a position to make a more detailed statement on the conversations."
