COUNTRY STOCK SALES

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS HEAVY YARDINGS OF SHEEP SPRING LAMBS IN DEMAND ' [from our own correspondent] 1 HAMILTON, Tuesday Heavy vardings of fat sheep came forward at the weekly stock .sale held at Franktou to-day, but competition throughout was dull and prices for bo # th ewes and wethers showed a slight drop on last week's figures. The demand for fat hoggets was steady and prices remained at the same level. There was a fairly keen demand for spring lambs and values showed little alteration. Cow and heifer beef met with a steady demand, but a large entry of ox beef did not meet with the inquiry anticipated, and prices eased considerably. Large yardings of calves were penned and sold at rates slightly below those of the previous week. Late rates were maintained for a large entry of fat pigs, which sold steadily. A 'full olTeriug of storo and weaner pigs met with erratic bidding, although in most cases late rates were maintained. Good conditioned stores were more in demand than poorer quality sorts.
