NELSON DISTRICT WORK PRAISE FROM MINISTER [BY TELEGRArH—FJRKSS ASSOCIATION'] JCELSON, Tuesday The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. P. Semple, who has been visiting the Collingwood district, leaves Nelson for Christchurch to-morrow. To-day he visited the Hume Cobb Piver HydroElectric Company's works now in course of construction. Mr. Semple said he had been greatjy 'impressed with the amount of work done in the time by the company. It was real pioneering work in country as rough as could be found anywhere in New Zealand. When completed, the works would be a credit to the company and a. boon to the Nelson district. The Minister added that he intended to come again to take a moving picture of the whole system to show the people of New Zealand what engineering tasks and what work were involved in the generation ol hydro-electric power in such mountainous places. Mr. J. Wood, engineer-in-charge of the Public Works Department, and Mr. H. H. Sterling and the Hon. G. 11. Hunter, directors of the company, accompanied the Minister on his visit.
