FATAL FALL

CHEMIST AND WIFE Dr. Rex Renshaw, a well-known chemist, and his wife were killed last month when they fell from the 19tli floor of a New York apartment building. Dr. Renshaw was experimenting with a chemical with which he hoped to "humanise" war by causing temporary paralysis to the soldiers. He believed that ono pint of his chemical preparation, which he ciilled ecetyocholine, loaded into a shell, would be sufficient to render about a million men unconscious for several hours by lowering their blood pressure, thus enabling them to be taken prisoners with the minimum bloodshed. Police believe that one of the victims fell or jumped, and that thy other fell in attempting to save the first. No notes were left.
