WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS
RACING AT ELLERSLIE A VARIETY OF SPORTS Large fielcls are engaged for the opening of the Auckland Racing Chili's MidSpring Meeting to be held at Ellerslio to-day. when the chief events will 'be the Alison Cup of a mile and a-quartcr and the Takapuna Plate of seven furlongs. Cricket enthusiasts will find ample to interest them at Eden Park thif afternoon when eight senior teams in the Auckland Cricket Association's championship will be engaged. Suburban matches will be continued on the Domain. Golf clubs will continue their competitions. The Auckland Golf Club will hold its official closing of the winter season at Middlemorc. Club and interclub bowling games will be decided on the various greens. The first series of matches in* the knock-out competition will be decided by baseball players at Blandford Park this afternoon, when another large crowd is expected to witness more of this exciting new sport. Track and field athletes will take part in the Mount Albert Athletic Club's open meeting at Gribble-Hirst Park. Yachtsmen will compete in club races on the Waitemata and Manukau, while the various rowing clubs will also decide competitions. Exponents of lawn tennis will take part in further club contests.
