HIGHER SERVICE CHARGES MATIRA DISTRICT SUPPLY [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday The Franklin Electric-Power Board at its monthly meeting yesterday entered into an agreement to supply bulk elec- * tricity to the Central Power Board v at the boundary between the two bodies on the Matira Valley Road. It ' was explained that the> Franklin lines were almost to the boundary in that locality, but the nearest point of the Central Board's reticulation was much farther away. The agreement would enable the Central Board to reticulate the neighbourhood without having to - wait until an extension of its own lines was warranted. The board decided, that service £ charges be increased, owing to in- •- creased wage costs. The old charge was 3s 6d an hour, with a minimum of 2s 6d for any period up to half an $| hour. The new charge for the period from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. is 5s 3d an hour, with a minimum of 3s 6d, and for the period from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. ? 6s 9d an hour, with a minimum of ■ 4s 6d.
