SUCCESS AT SOCCER association trophy won The progress made by the University Association football team during its first, year of existence was stressed by the chairman of the Auckland Football Association, Mr. L Mtinro, at the presentation of trophies and "blues" at Auckland University College last evening. The success of University in winning the third division cup, Mr. Munro stated, was unique. So far as ho could ascertain this was the first university club to plav Soccer in New Zealand, and it was certainly the.first Association Cup to bo won club Mr. Munro, who had with him on the platform Messrs. F H. Baker and J. C. Sibbin, two members of the Control Board, expressed the hope that next season moro University teams would be fieldfd. With the formation of a club by Otago University College it would not be long before the Soccer frame would be a recognised part of University sport. The cup. which bears the names of many outstanding teams who have won it Bince 1003, was received by the captain of the team, Mr. D. Munro.
