INCIDENT ON TRAMCAR OBSTRUCTION OF INSPECTOR Charges of being drunk on a tramcar in Broadway on Friday evening, and obstructing a tramway inspector iu tho performance of his duty, were preferred against Frederick Nicholas Lindblom, electrician, aged 38, before Captain J. A. Algie and Mr. J. B. Paterson, J.P.'s, in the Police Court on Saturday. Accused admitted the charge of drunkenness, but pleaded not guilty to tho other charge. Evidence was given that accused was unable to produce his tram ticket when asked to do so by an inspector. Ho picked up two tickets from the floor of the tram, bijt, tho inspector was unable to accept. either as being the proper one. After being taken to the police station in a taxi, accused produced another ticket, but it could not be accepted. Accused was fined £l, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for obstruction, and 10s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness. A salesman, Evan Edgar Peece,,aged 21, was charged with obtaining £25 from Andrew Gilbert Ryland on November 17 by falsely representing tliat the motor-car ho sold complainant was his own' property 1 and, unencumbered. Accused was remanded until Thursday on bail on £SO, with a j, jety of £IOO. A charge of assaulting Thomas Thompson at Ellerslie on Friday was preferred again George Thomson, labourer, aged 42, who was remanded until to-morrow.
