PUMPING AT HIKURANGI END NOT YET IN SIGHT ' [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT} WHANGAREX, Friday It has not been possible yet to bring the full power of all the pumps that are being used for tho un wintering o the flooded Hikurangi coal mine into operation, so the effect on the water, when all are working at full capacity cannot be gauged. The large pump that commenced working yesterday, with a capacity of 60,000 gallons an hour, is work smoothly, but a smaller pump of 24,000 gallons an hour capacity is being moved to a new position lower down in the niiue. , , The inrush of water has been ckecKea and a drop in the level has been recorded. In spite of this seeming y satisfactory position, there is a feeing among the miners that they > not be hewing coal again until the * ew Year. The management cannot state when production will again commence.,
