SPECIAL INCOME TAX
PROPOSAL IN QUEENSLAND NO UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY (Received November 9, n.'lO p.m.) BRISBANE, N0v.,0 A bill introduced in Parliament abolishes the unemployment relief tax in Queensland. Instead it provides for the levying of a special income tax. The new tax will be paid into the Consolidated Revenue, not the unemployment fund a« previously. Wage earners up to the basic wage will be exempted from payment of the tax. The tax on incomes between £2ll and £227 will be 3d in the £l, on incomes between £227 and £199 6d, and on incomes over £499 9d.
