PIGEON RACING
WHANGAREI CLUB'S EVENTS [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday Three hard races wero decided by the Whangarei Homing Pigeon Club this week. The first race was an interval one from Petone. Results were:—E. Gilbey's b c c Gymkhana, flying time 12h 3m, 1; D. Wilson's r c c Red Star, 12h -18 m, 2; A. Balfour's r c c Lonely, 13h, 3. These were the only fanciers to get birds home in race time. This race carries with it the Conaghan Cup. The second race was an interval one from Palmerston North. Results were:—E. Gilbey's boh Pansy, flying time l)li 39m. 1; A. Balfour's r c c Marsh Bird, lOh 32m, 2; B. Hill's b c p White Winps, 3. These were the only fanciers to get their birds home on the same day. This race carried with it the /Maurer Cup. The third race was an interval one confined to yearlings and was flown from National Park. Results were:—D. Wilson's b c c Blue Bonnet, flying time 7h 14m, 1; E. Gilbey's b c c Avenger, 7h 35m, 2; A. Balfour's r c c Sandy, 7h 35m, 3. All birds in this race managed to (jet home in race time. This race carried the Commercial Cup.
