BANANA IMPORTS
SHIPMENT BY TIIE MATUA LARGEST SINCE CHRISTMAS 16,000 CASES FOR AUCKLAND Sixteen thousand cases of bananas from the Islands will be discharged at Auckland by the Matua, v.-hirh arrived from Suva yesterday afternoon. About 9500 casts of bananas will be discharged by the vessel at Wellington. This is tho largest shipment of bananas the Matua has brought to New Zealand since last Christmas. Tho Matua loaded 10,500 cases at Apia, and her quota from Samoa for shipment in November is 13,000 cases. These two consignments will amount to approximately 720,000 bananas, worth over £6OOO to the planters. Nine thousand cases of bananas were loaded at Suva last week.
Other cargo to be discharged at Auckland by the Matua includes kwmaras, melons, cocoa beans, tomatoes, pineapples, cucumbers, coconuts, French beans and hides. A quantity of coconut oil will be discharged at Wellington.
