ROYAL AKARANA CLUB SAILING DINGHY RACES The Royal Akarana Yacht Club held its final series of winter races for sailing dinghies yesterday. All events started ana finished off the clubhouse and were sailed in a squally south-westerly breeze. In the first race, which started at 11 a.m.. Scarab capsized near the Compass Dolphin. Four of the other competitors stood by her and the race was abandoned.

The finishing times in th« various races were as follows: — Second Race. —Rio, 2h .18m 455; Love Bug, 2h 39m 18s; Meola, 2h 41m; Toroa, 2h 44m 455; Joy, 2h 45m 3f>s; Pam, 2h 45m 40s; Wish Wynne, 2h 48m 455: Scarab, 2h 54 m 455; Weona, 2h 55m 20s. The result on corrected times was:—Rio, scr, 1; Love Bug, scr, 2; Joy, 6m, 3. Third Race. —Love Bug, 3h 24m; Rio, 3h 24m 12s; Meola. 3h 26m 10s; Toroa, 3h 26m 255. _ The resnlt was: —Love Bug, scr, 1; Rio, scr, 2; Meola, scr, 3. Fourth Race. —Pam, 3h 30m 20s: Gazelle, 3h 30m 355; Joy, 3h 32m ss; Weona, 3h 34m 12s; Scarab, 3h 36m 50s; Wish Wynne, 3h 37m 455.

The result on corrected times was:— Gazelle, Itn, 1; Pam, scr, 2; Weona. 4m. 3. The retiring commodore, Mr. T. McKnight, was presented with an electric reading lamp during the afternoon in appreciation of his past services. The gift was made by the commodore, Mr W. Curtis, on behalf of the club.
