CRICKET HONOURS

THEEE CENTURIES !> V. SCOTT IN FINE FORM BOWLERS REAP HARVEST GOOD DOUBLE BY MATHESON Further outstanding performances were witnessed yesterday in the full series of matches played under the control of the Auckland Cricket Association. Following on the two centuries last Saturday three more were scored yesterday, the successful batsmen being V. Scott, Y.M.C.A., 121 not out, E. 11. Sutherland, Y.M.C.A., 114, and H. T. Pearson, Middlemope, 104 not out. Tho best total of the day was registered by Y.M.C.A. with 261 for three wickets.

The Y.M.C.A. colt, V. Scott, who made pheuomenal progress last season, scoring over 1000 runs and making a century in his first appearance for Auckland against Wellington at the Basin Reserve, has commenced the season in fine form. He was unbeaten last Saturday with 40 to his credit and he was again not out yesterday with 121. H. T. Pearson is a former Auckland representative. E. R. Sutherland has been a consistent opening batsman for Y.M.C.A. for the past few seasons.

A pleasing return to form was also shown by C. C. Dacre, the former Auckland and New Zealand representative, who made 61 for North Shore in brilliant style. Dacre, who played several seasons for Gloucester, and led the North Shore team to championship honours two seasons ago, did not play last year. He showed all his old-time brilliance yesterday and his innings was greatly appreciated by the spectators.

There was some poor scoring in yesterday's matches and bowlers reaped a harvest. The Auckland and New Zealand representative, A. M. Matheson (University), completed a fine double by taking four wickets for 14 and compiling 56 runs. Another former Auckland representative, D. C. Cleverley (Middiemore), the fast bowler, took five wickets for 16 runs. Other good efforts were those of V. S. Sale (North Shore), four for 17, and L. B. Schnauer (University), four for 22. The North Shore fast trundler, J. B. Simpson, who took six wickets for 55 runs on Saturday, continued his good form yesterday with four for 40.
