BLACKBERRY AND RAUPO [by telegraph—own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday A firo in the basin of the Waiknto River, below the Tuakau Bridge, attracted considerable attention last night. Burning off was being carried out in the afternoon in blackberry and raupo bushes, but, owing to the abnormally dry conditions, the firo spread over a fairly lnrge area of swamp and tho blaze was much larger than was anticipated. t It is unusual for swamp fires to be successful before the late summer and autumn.
