NO CHANGE IN PRICE r ; BELOW LAST YEAR'S BATE EASIER CHEESE VALUES Prices for New Zealand butter in London remain steady on a quiet market. Choicest salted is again quoted at 114s per cwt. Australian salted at 109s to 110s shows a decline of about 6d on tho past week. In unsalted butters, New Zealand is = selling at 115s per cwt., and Australian at Ills, according to a Press Associa- f tion messago sent from London on \ Thursday. Choice coloured dessert apples were keenly sought, and hothouse tomatoes and strawberries sold very well. Poorer lines were hard to quit. Oranges and ripe bananas met a keen market, but lemons were in over-i supply and were not wanted. 1 Good levels were reaohed by most . lines in vegetable sales, in spite of full ' supplies coming forward. MINING NEWS MARTHA OPERATIONS [by tklkguavh —OWN cokrkspo.vdrxt] WAIHI, Friday The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi) Limited: — No. 3 Level.— Driving east on No. 1 lode the next 23£t. assays 17s 6d a ton, based on a stoping width of 4ft. No. 5 level. —East section of Edward lode: Commencing south-west of the Empire drive the first sft. is ore of good grade, but in the next 48ft. the"reef is uplit up, and is of little or no value. No. 7 level.—The rise on the west section of the Edward lode for the next 12ft. assays 43s a ton. The lode is about 3ft. wide. - YIELDS OF COMPANIES Hulolo Gold Dredging (New Guinea). —For September the total gross production was 15,2710/,. of bullion containing 10.5370 a. of fine gold from 1 I.SS 000 cubic vards. Estimated working profit, 73000z. of fine gold. The production is equivalent £o £92.199 and working profit to £63.875 on the basis of £8 15s (Australian) a fine ounce of gold. Throughout the period No. 2 dredge was digging in very low-valued ground through a gorge to a new location, which has now been reached.
