BANK DIRECTOR

SIR FREDERICK .TOUT. ARRIVAL FROM AUSTRALIA An arrival by the Awatea from Sydney yesterday was Sir Frederick Tout, a leading figure in the Australian pastoral industry, and a member of the New South Wales Legislativo Council. Sir Frederick, who is a director of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, was accompanied by the general manager and actuary of the society, Mr. A. W. Sneddon.

It was announced yesterday by Mr. R. C. Addison, resident inspector in New Zealand of the Bank of New South Wales, that Sir Frederick had been appointed a director of the bank in place of Mr. E. T. Thring, who lately resigned. Ho has been president of the Australian Economic Advisory Council since 1933, and is a past president of tho Graziers' Association of New South Wales and Commonwealth representative on the Australian Wool Board. He attended the Ottawa Conference in 1932 as* one of the official consultants appointed by the Commonwealth Government.

Sir Frederick '.Lout and Mr. Sneddon are at the Grand Hotel and will leave for Wellington by this afternoon's express.
