MILD TEMPEBATUBES UNSETTLED WITH RAIN r The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —The situation is of the westerly type with high pressure to the north and a series of depressions passing in the south. The forecast is for southwesterly winds at first in the far north but elsewhere between north and west, mainly moderate at first but gradually freshening about and south of Cook Strait. Seas moderate about Cook and Foveaux Straits and south of Cape Egmont but gradually rising, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: North-westerly winds, light in the northern portion with slight seas but strong in the southern portion with rather rough to rough seas. The weather is likely to become unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect, with rain gradually extending from the south along the west coast. Fair to fine in eastern areas. Temperatures mild. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR TO FINE AND MILD The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forceast for the Auckland Province: —Light to moderate westerly winds. The weather is likely to be fair to fine and mild. Seas moderate on the west coast, slight 011 the east coast. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —The day was fine, although cloudy conditions were experienced for the greater part of the day. There was a moderate wind from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 66 degrees and the minimum 53 degrees. barometric pressure fell slightly in the early evening. Dunedin. —The weather was fine in the morning with bright sunshine, but the sky became overcast later and rain fell in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 70 degrees.
