SYDNEY ACCIDENT BIG FALL OF EARTH REMARKABLE ESCAPES THREE SENT TO HOSPITAL By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received October 21, 3 0.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 21 Twelve men were buried beneath three tons of timber and 100 tons of earth at an excavation for residential flats in Bellevue Hill suburb to-day. All had remarkable escapes from death. Three of them were sent to hospital suffering from severe lacerations and shock. The men wore working above and below a timber staging when earth collapsed aiul overwhelmed the whole gang, carrying the staging to the baso 'of the excavation.
Tho men were able to keep their heads and shoulders outside the debris and finally to extricato themselves.
