CHURCH AND STATE NAZIS IN VIENNA WEEK-END RIOTING CARDINAL BLAMED DRASTIC REPRISALS By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received October 14, 5.5 p.m.) VIENNA, Oct. 14 The Nazi Commissioner for Ostmark, Hcrr Buerckel, addressing 20,000 Nazis in the Heldenplatz, announced the termination of the negotiations between the Government and the Catholic Church of Austria. He blamed Cardinal Innitzer for provoking the week-end riots and asserted that the demonstrators were mainly Jews and Czechs. Hcrr Buerckel added that Nazis had no need to practise brutality or to resort to medieval methods. Events in

any case were grossly exaggerated. A clique of priests, deprived of power, desired to wield influence and incite tho populace against the State. Tho Nazis condemned both Cardinal Tnnitzer's demonstration against tho State and youth's demonstration against it. Tho following reprisals would bo taken: The expulsion of all Jews and Czechs from Vienna who participated in tho demonstration; the cancellation of plans to give the Church educational facilities; the postponement of the amnesty for political offenders, Dr. Sehuschnigg to remain in custody. Severe measures would bo taken if religious demonstrations were repeated.
