ISOLATED ELECTORS VOTING PAPERS BY AIR DROPPED FROM ALOFT PILOT'S SUCCESSFUL TRIP [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] INVERCARGILL. Friday Voting papers for about 120 men employed by the Public Works Department at Mil lord Sound were safely delivered by aeroplano this morning. Mr. F. J. Adams, instructor to the. Southland Aero Club, flew one of the club's machines to the sound and back in .a non-stop flight of threo and threequarter hours' duration. There is no landing ground at Milfonl Sound, but arrangements were made for a parcel of papers to be dropped from the air at a suitable spot. When Mr. Adams arrived at the sound he saw a group of men in front of the hostel signalling to him. After manoeuvring the aeroplane into a suitable position Mr. Adams dropped the parcel as accurately as possible. The papers had been wrapped in sacking packed with straw to avoid damage in delivery. The parcel landed near a group ot trees and when the pilot saw men running toward the spot he was satisfied that he had successfully completed his unusual task and turned for home. Although flying conditions on the outward journey had been good the return trip was windv and bumpy. The machine arrived back at Invercargill at 12.45 p.m. Milford Sound is in the Wallace electorate, the sitting member for which is the Hon. A. Hamilton, Leader of the National Party. The results of the voting at the Sound will be sent to the returning officer by wireless.
