LONDON, Sept. 22 " The post-war generation is inclined to slovenly garb as if it were'a virtue, and the trohd of modern life is drifting away from tomely attire," said Mr. H. E. Stocks, of Halifax, when, as the new president, he spoke at conference of the National Federation of Merchant Tailors, at Liverpool. "There may be vanity in the dandy,'' he added-, "but is it half so foolish as the kind which disdains good clotlios? Still, 1 see in the younger generation a gradual yearning to wear a better and mora distinctive typo of clothing."
