mild temperattjbes / RAIN IN SOUTHERN AREAB The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —Pressure is still high i« the north, but is now falling generally over the Dominion. The depression over the western Tasman Sea has deepened and is slowly moving eastward. f The forecast is for north to west winds prevailing, light to moderate over th<a northern half of the North Island, but strong at times, thence southward, and rising to gale forc-o in some exposed positions. Seas rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and rising on the west coast of the South Island, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Northerly to north-westerly winds, light to moderate in the northern portion, "with slight to moderate seas; strong in the central and southern portions, with rather rough to rough seas. The weather is likely to be fair to fine generally at first, but cloud increasing and rain developing in the far south-west and south, and extending gradually northward over districts with a westerly aspect. Temperatures mild. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST LIGHT WESTERLY WINDS The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light westerly winds gradually becoming more northerly. The weather is likely to be fair to fine and mild. Seas smooth to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —After cloudy conditions in the morning the weather was fine and clear, the wind being light from the south. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees and the minimum 53 degrees. Barometric pressure fell slightly.
