FAIR TO FINE AT FIBST rain developing later The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued fay the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —Au intense anti-cyclone ig centred west of the North Island, while a rather shallow westerly depression extends from south-eastern Australia across the south Tasman Sea. The forecast is for light to moderate and somewhat variable winds at first, hut with nortlierlies gradually p re dominating from laranaki and Hawke's Bay southward, and later freshening. Seas_ slight to moderate generally, but rising in the far soutn and also about Cook Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate northerly winds, freshening gradually, es . pocially in the central and southern portions; seas slight to moderate, but rising in the southern portion.
