PRESSURE OF MAILB DUPLICATING SERVICES LONDON, Oct. 1, Tha unprecedented pressure of'mails from Southampton to Australia, is necessitating a duplication of Imperial Airways services to Karachi and Basra. The growth of flhe traffic is rendering Imperial Airways' fleet wholly inadequate, and it is anticipated that future growth will outstrip delivery.
Twenty - stven various types of machines are being built, but experts Urge an immediate start in designing and constructing a fleet of 40-ton flyingboats, pointing out that several years ttust elapse before their completion. Imperial Airways officials state that ' African trunk branch services are absorbing more aeroplanes. For example, those to Johannesburg and Salisbury increased from one to six services a week.
