SENSATION IN HURDLES FOUR FALL AT FIRST FENOE TAILLIGHT' IN HARD FINISH [by telegraph—own correspondent] HASTINGS. Friday Tho Hollycombe Hurdles provided a sensation when Agog fell at tho first Wnce and brought down Red Rufus, Lovolilt, Thrasher and Royal Record. This left only Soho, Glenvane and ffioat Song surviving. Soho was ridden patiently until tho last half-furlong, when he had to be kicked up to stall off GlOnvane's challenge. Boat Song was a poof third. 0. Zuppicich and W. H. Tricklebank, 1 riders of Thrasher and Agog respectively, were admitted to hospital. , ■, Tho Improvers' Plate proved the best of good things for 'the favourite, Hagon. Ho jumped out woll from No. 2 position, soon shook off Royal Ace and won comfortably from Titter, who camo through in the straight to issue a hopeless challenge. These two were well clear of Carrington Hall and Royal Ace. Tho others were well back and never looked likely to take a serious part in tho contest. However, Sternchase looks a good typo. , \ > Filly Outclasses Field Nora Gregor outclassed a field of moderate two-year-olds in the Empire Nursery Handicap. She was- soon in front and opened up a break of five lengths' on the field. She maintained this advantage to tho post, winning in the smart tune of 47 3-ss, which was good in view of the strong wind which the field had to face up tho long Hastings straight. Silver Bat was an easy second and Katesbridge was the only other runner to show form of any merit. Hunting Cat, who is now raced by "Mr. L. C. Breakwell, Dannevirko, won the Spring Handicap, coming through from third place at tho turn to wear down tho favourite, Master Cyklon, Hunting Cat has not raced since last autumn, when be carried Mr. 0. Nelson's colours. Since then ho hak been given, to Mr. Breakwell, who did well with another gift from Mr. Nelson in Passion Fruit. Master Cyklon and Curie made most of the \pace, but Hunting Cat was galloping smoothly behind them and had the race won a furlong from home.'Curie did well to run Master Cyklon close for second and Buster Brown was fourth.

Taillight moved to the front three furlong,s from home in the Epsom Handicap to leud Master Hector, Co-i lenso and Hamarin into the straight, with Umpire moving up. In a very hard finish, Taillieht hung on to beat Hamarin and Umpire. Patches ran a good raco for fourth and Master Hector was fifth. Trailer, who was sore, dropped back half a mile from homo. Mesurina and Colenso were both being badly interfered with. Return In Best Form Lady : Chat, who showed promise in the spring of last season and then went wrong, won at her firgt start of this season in the Otane Handicap. She jumped out well and tailed Diana Tetrix to the turn, where she went to the front and resisted the challenge of Dainty Sue to win decisively. Dainty Sue wont a good race, as she got away badly and was at,the rear of the field at the half-mile, Bold Step, who did not cct' a clear run on .the fence, was only a neck away third and Diana Tetriic was fourth, then, cameLindrum, Lucullus Boy: and Hinepit. Joviality,: favourite for the Homewood Flyiftg Handicap, had every chance, but. ,he was easily; . beaten. Kakahanga jumped out, brilliantly from No; 2 position and led all the way. Sha was attended at the home turn First Chapter, Jazz Boy ana Peter Beckford, but none could get near her. There was a good contest. 'for second: money, Brunhild just beating Jazz Boy, who was unlucky to bo hemmed in On the fence two furlongs from home. Pladie ran an excel" lent, race and others to run well enough t,o merit further consideration were Peter Beckford and The Bigot, who finished eighth.
