; MR. K. W. GORRINGE PIG INDUSTRY SUPERVISOR . • ; [by telegraph—OWN* correspondent] : i WELLINGTON, Wednesday The death hks occurred of Mr. Kirke Wobcl Gorringe; a former supervisor of the pig-industry for the Department of Agriculture. Mr. Gorringe was born in 1871- at Bexley, Kent, England. He Came to New Zealand in 1891. For a number of years he was engaged in farming in Taranaki. Later he set up the N first model pig farm; at.Te Rapa. Hamilton. • V \ In '1920 Mr. Gorringe joined the Department of Agriculture as: supervisor, of the- pig industry. He lectured throughout both the North and South Islands. Mr. Gorringe was responsible for /improving the standard of" pigkeeping in the Dominion and played a large part in developing the export industry. He retired at the end of last year. . MRS. M. J. MARTYN \ The death has occurred ,of Mrs. M. J. Martyn, aged 85, at her residence, 9 Gordoii Road, 'Mount Eden. Mrs. Martyn was born in Qprnwall and came to New Zealand wi|)h her late husband in the ship Liguna in 1880. Under the scheme of the New Zealand Land Compariy they settled, at Tauwhare, on the Woodland estate. Mrs. Martyn was - well known as a member of the Methodist Church, with which she was associated for many years. She is survived by two sons and two daughters.

Mr. Butler was. foreman of thef northern portal of the Tiki-: wata tunnel on the East Coast railway.
