SOUTH AM6RIOAN MARKET QUANTITY FOR BUENOS AIRES [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] CHRISTCHTJRCH, Wednesday Rumours that the .< 3000 tons of Canterbury potatoes which are now being loaded by the Port. Melbourne at Lyttelton will be dumped on their arrival in South America, are entirely without foundation, it was learned from an official source. x , . It was stated that, a market had been found in Buenos Aires for a large proportion of the shipment, and /that -the remainder would, m all probability, bo disposed of before the potatoes arrived. There was no truth in the statement that the Internal Marketing Department' had failed, as did city merchants, to find a market. In practically every store at Lyttelton, and in many city stores; graderß are at work picking over potatoes bought ini the country at £3 a ton, sacks in. Strict supervision is .exercised,- and only the best potatoes are passed. More than 50 graders are em- , ployed .at the port alone.
