A sea wall and 20ft;promenade has been constructed, by the : Devonport council between Arawa and Bath Streets at the northern end of - Cheltenham Beach. With the assistance of the council, the Wakatere Boating Club has rebuilt its hall at Narrow Neck. The erection of new men's and women's bathing sheds on Takapuna Beach ; at the foot of the Strand is now being carried out for the Takapuna Borough Council. These sheds, which will. be ready for use in about six weeks, will provide much more accommodation than the changing quarters recently demolished. Smaller bothing sheds aro being built near the foot of St. Leonard's Road at the southern end of the beach.

At Milford tho proprietors of the large swimming pool plan to carry out extensive improvements during the next few Weeks. This work will include the concreting of portion of the floor of the pool, the construction of a culvert to provide a bettor intake* of water, and the erection of a groin to stop sand drift at that end of the beach.

Many improvements of a minor nature are also being carried out at the various beaches. Work is being done on access roads and paths, buildings and fences are being painted, and weeds and rubbish are being cleared away.
