FIRST GRAND-DAUGHTER

MR. AND MRS. CHAMBERLAIN NO OPPORTUNITY TO SEE HER [from- our OWN correspondent] LONDON, Sept. 16 The international situation has robbed Mr. and Mrs. Neville Chamber; lain of an immediate opportunity of seeing their first grand-daughter. Last Saturday a baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Lloyd, of Birmingham, the latter being Mr. and Mr§, Chamberlain's only daughter. Roses fill Mrs. Lloyd's room with fragrance. They came in place of Mrs. Chamberlain, wish her love. . Each day, however, she rings her daughter from No. 10 Downing Street, and gives her messages from her father. The baby is to be called Anne-Rafter her grandmother—with the omission of the 'i." The Prime Minister invariably calls his wife "Annie," but she is "Anne" to everyone else. When the new Anne is christened — whether in London or Birmingham is not yet decided —she. will probably wear the robe made for Mrs. Lloyd's christening by the Prime Minister's sister; Miss Hilda Chamberlain. It was worn two years ago by the baby's brother Stephen. ,
