RUNAWAY MOTOR-CAR

SHOP WINDOWS BROKEN --t ACCIDENT IN QUEEN STREET After running backward down Queen Street at 11.15 last night a motor-car crashed through two plate-glass windows of a shop opposite the Town Hall, occupied by a pawnbroker, Mr. H. Solomon. When the driver, Mr. W. J. McMillan, turned the cranking-handle the car started suddenly and, with the engine running, the vehicle ran backward, swiftly gaining speed. Mr. McMillan pursued the car and jumped oil to the running-board, but lie could not stop it before it ran into the shop. An iron grille in front of the windows prevented injury to the stock and the car was on-.} slightly damaged.
