FUNCTION AT PUKEKOHE ADDRESS BY CANDIDATE [FROM OUR OWX CO It RMS PON I) KN T ] PUKEKOH 10, Thursday There was a large attendance tit the "Happiness and Security" ball, held in the .Masonic Hall, Pukekoho. last, night under the auspices of the Franklin branch of the New Zealand Labour Party. During the evening a short address was given by Mr. 10. Piggott, Labour candidate for Franklin, who was introduced by Mr. A. Best, chairman of tho Franklin Labour Pepresentation Committee. The programme included competition dances. Two solos were given by Mr. A. 10. Hamilton, of Auckland. The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised .Mrs. F. King, who was wearing a frock of brown floral crepe; 3lrs. 31. Sutton, black lace; Mrs. T. Breen, black and blue floral crepe; Mrs. F. Movie, navy .silk faille; Mrs. R. Watson, black satin; .Mrs. L. Taylor, aquamarine blue georgette; Mrs. I). Scott, black satin; Mrs. .J. Seed, royal purple; Mrs. B. Chetterall, navy silk; 3lrs. .1. Falvev, blue and white frock; 3lrs. W. JO. Davies, blue satin crepe; and .Mrs. J. Darwin, sapphire blue crepc. Mr. J. Watson was master of ceremonies.

Downey, the successful candidate ill the queen carnival conducted throughout the Dargaville district by local branches of the Labour Party. The ceremony took place in the Royal Theatre in Dargav ille before a very large gathering. 3lr. C. N. Taylor crowned the (pieeii. At the conclusion of the ceremony Mr. P. McG. Stewart, Labour candidate, for Kaipara, extended tho committee's appreciation to the queen carnival candidates and presented each with a gift. The other three candidates in the carnival were 31iss T. Hogan, Labour Queen. 3liss H. Weir, Maori Queen, and .Miss W Dean, Industrial Queen.
