COURT REFUSES BAIL ACCUSED COLLAPSES IN DOCK f BY TKLKGKAPH- —I'ItKSS ASSOCIATION | WELIiIXGTOX. Thursday Bail was to-day refused Marjorie Pickering, aged 42, married, charged before Mr. L. Stout, S.M., with unlawfully using an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage. Detective-Sergeant Doylo, opposing the granting of bail, said the girl concerned was not finite 20. He could remember only one case in his experience where a magistrate had granted bail. He gave ail assurance that the police would probably be ready to proceed next Wednesday. The magistrate s;iid lie would refuse hail in the meantime. Accused collapsed and had to he assisted from the dock.
