DURBAN'S BUILDING BOOM

£3,000,000 SPENT IN A YEAR

Durban building records were broken in the corporate year front August. 19.'37. to .1 ulv this year, when plans for building having an estimated value of just under £3.000.000 were passed by the Citv Council. The extraordinary upward tendency of the citv's building graph is indicated by the fact that in -032-33 the buildings for which plans were passed had a total value of only £373.002. The increase is thus practically one of 800 per cent'in six years. The progress of the building boom is shown by "the annual totals of estimated costs from 1932-33 to the present day. Those totals are:— 1932-33 137:3.002 (1021 plans); ]<)33-3l! £1,015,5!)!
