WHALE OFF RUSSELL
SWQRDFISH ALSO SEEN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] RUSSELL, Tuesday Great interest was aroused in Russell when a whale of- the killer variety was observed a short distance off the wharf. After spending about two hours in the vicinity it was seen to move off in the direction of Waitangi. A party which visited the Cape Brett fishing grounds on a line-fishing expedition sighted two swordfigh. The warm weather of the past week has no doubt brought these fighting fish closer inshore. Smaller fish are abundant.
