RUGBY FOOTBALL

ATTEACTIYE MATCH APPEARANCE OF BARBARIANSj i SEVERAL FORMER ALL BLACKS STRONG c AUCKLAND FIFTEEN , One of the biggest Kugby attractions placed before the public of Auckland for some time will be staged on the Eden Park oval to-morrow afternoon. This will be a match between the Barbarians and the Auckland representatives. The Barbarians' team is composed almost entirely of- former Auckland, North Island and New Zealand representative players, who formed themselves into a club two seasons ago j with the idea of maintaining their in- j terest in the game, and also for the | purpose of visiting a country centre or j two each year for the purpose of foster- ! ing Rugby within the province. I

The Barbarians met with success at Thames last season and recently at Matalnata, while another visit to Thames is cpntemplated to-morrow week. The selector of the Auckland team has paid the Borbarians a decided compliment in placing in tho field against the ex-representatives the strongest fifteen it was possible to assemble.

Considerable interest will be taken in tomorrow's match, if only for the purposo of a comparison of standards, making due allowance, of course, for tho fact that a few of tho Barbarians have not played regularly for some time. They have been training earnestly for several weeks past, howover, and all arb as keen as whon in their heyday. Tho Barbarians are in tho happy position of having four All Black threequarters, G. P. Hart, formerly of Canterbury, O. A. Bul-lock-Douglas, formerly of Wanganui. and T. H. C. Caughey and F. W. Lucas, of Auckland. The latter is nursing a leg injury at tho niomeri't, and it is doubtful if ho will bo dble to take the field. A glanco through tho names of the-players comprising the Barbarians' team will recall old memories. Tho hooking duel between "VV. Hadley and H. Bond should bo well worth watching, wliilo the line-out work. of C, Webb, tho ex-English international, will command attention. The Auckland players are all too well known to retjtiiro any introduction to patrons of the game. A bright and interesting contest seems asstrr&l. Following are the teams:—
