LADIES ENTERTAIN OLD ENGLISH PARTY WIGS AND RUFFLES WORN A charming and colourful scone was presented at the Catholic Women's League rooms last night, when an "Old English" party was held by the Dunedin Club. The function, which had been arranged by the lady members of the committee, proved very successful, there being a largo attendance of members a.nd their friends. The ladies' committee and many of the members were dressed in old fashioned frocks of different periods, while some of the men-wore lace ruffles and coloured lapels. Powdered ■ wigs and full frocks made a striking contrast to the sleek coiffures and sophisticated modern styles. M rs. R. 0. Jamieson received the guests wearing an early Victorian dress of shell pink taffetas flounced with blue. She was assisted by Miss Mabel Oram, who wore an Old English frock with panniers of turquoise blue satin over an underskirt of blush pink lace. During the, evening an old Knglish dance was given by Miss Ik'tty Young, and Miss Phyllis Gato sang. The members of the ladies' committee present were:—Mrs. James Oliver, Mrs. Llew Piper, Mrs. \Y.
