ROLLS CLOSE TO-DAY ELECTORS' LAST CHANCE HEAVY SUPPLEMENTARY LISTS A last opportunity to obtain electoral privileges will be given Auckland citizens to-day. when the supplementary rolls for the general election will close at the office of the registrar, Mr. J. H. V. Carr, in High Street, at 6 p.m. to-day. In the Otahuhu and Onehunga, electorates the rolls will close with the postmasters. Applicants for enrolment M'ho arc forwarding their forms by post !ir e required to have them at the Chief Post Office at the same time. Since the attention of electors has been drawn to the fact that in many cases their names have been erased from the rolls for various reasons there lias been a continued rush of applications and inquiries at the office of the registrar, and for several days the number of applications handled has been in the vicinity of 600 a day for each electorate. It is now thought that tho supplementary rolls for the nine Auckland electorates will have a total of well over .'52,000 names. Alterations to various electoral boundaries have resulted in confusion in some cases, and instances have occurred where an elector who has not changed his address since then has had his name struck off the roll. One such instance was provided by the case of an elector whose name had boon erased as a result of a mistaken impression that he was dead. However, it is pointed out that such electors retain the right of voting by declaration, although it is thought that in the great majority of these cases tho persons concerned have since drawn the attention of the office to the position, which has been rectified.
