GOVERNOR OF FIJI

SIR H. LUKE ARRIVES , WELCOMED AT SUVA [from OUR OWX COEBESPOKDEer] . SUVA, Sept. 161 Residents of Fiji welcomed their new Governor, Sir Harry Charles Luke, tills morning, when he landed from the Niagara. Sir Harry, who was formerly Lieutenant Governor of Malta, has been appointed Governor of Fiji and High Commissioner for the Western Pacific in succession to Sir Arthur Richards, recently appointed Governor of Jamaica. His Excellency was received by a guard of honour of the Fiji Defence Force when he landed and then inspected a large parade of return sailors and soldiers. Immediately a ' wards a large munber of Govern men officials and residents were introduced to His Excellency. Later in the morning Sir Harry sworn in by His Honor the Chief Justice- Mr. 0. C. K. Corrie, in "w presence of members of the Executive and Legislative Councils. No formal native welcome was accorded His Excellency to-day, being reserved for the Council Chiefs, which His Excellency vail attend at Taveuni in a few j uj s Lady Luke has not accompanied m Excellency to Fiji.
