AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland provincial amateur snooker championship for the Billiards, Limited, Cup was continued last eveninc: at the showrooms of Messrs. Billiards, Limited.. J. J. Shepherd played G. . Wade in the first contest. Wade had the. better of the play in the early stages of the first game and potted accurately. He sained a useful lead of 31$ to J "J, with only two colours left on the table. Shepherd did not display his usual accuracy and required snookers with the last four balls left on the table. Wade maintained his advantage and potted the blue and the pink to win comfortably. Wade potted the black twice early in*the second game. Shepherd emulated this performance and evened the scores, but Wade added a pink. Shepherd retaliated by .securing a blue. Wade increased his lead to 12 points and made the game difficult for his opponent. He potted tho green and the brown, and Shepherd required a snooker on the last three balls. Wade succeeded in potting the blue and the pink to win tho contest.

C. Spencer, the title-holder, played G. Lamb in the second contest. Both gave pleasing displays of accurate potting, with Lamb having slightly the better of the game. Spencer was content to wait for opportunities and ho did not niako any mistakes. The scores were even at '25. Two penalties against Spencor,proved costly, and Lamb led by 49 to 27. Spencer made' a good recovery, but Lamb still had a useful lead with the last fivo balls- left on the table. Spencer took the green, but Lamb clinched the game by potting the brown and the blue.

Spencer revealed accuracy in getting a green and a bluo at his second visit in the next game, Lamb replying with a nicelyplayed pink. The latter played very steadily and, potting well, soon gained a useful lead. Spencer required the last five balls to win. After Lamb had potted the green Spencer required snookers. He was not favoured in tho run of the play, and Lamb potted the blue and the pink to win. H. Miller will play L. F. W. Holdsworth to-night at 7.30 o'clock, and E. C. Sutton will meet S. Molloy at 8.30 o'clock.
