RUGBY HALFBACK
After the Waikato-North Auckland match L. Russell, North Island and Waikato halfback, intimated that it would be his last game in representative football. Russell's retirement will be a serious loss to Waikato Rugby, as, although severely handicapped by injuries for the past two seasons, lie has been tbe leading player in Waikato and Morritisvillo football. Russell was right at the top of hip form at the beginning of this season, and appeared to be the logical choice for the halfhack position for the All Blacks. It was mainly due to his susceptibility to .injuries that' he did not make the trip.
