INTERESTING RUNNERS . > kinnoull, lady rosette [BY TELKGHAPH —OWN COUBKSPONDKNT] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday For the Spring Handicap at Ashburton, Kinnoull may bo deserving of consideration. In October of last year, ho made his reappearance in tho Flying Handicap at Washdyko after an absence of many months and with 9.3, he beat Rebel Mate, Invoice, Top Row and Araboa in 1.12. Going on to Trentham, he won the Wainui Handicap, one mile, with 9.5 from Catalogue, 9.6, in 1.37, but he failed in the Harcourt Stakes. Kinnoull has not rqced since- then, but he has got through solid work and seems to be in as good order as he was 12 months ago. He will be ridden by A. E. Didham. Second Innings, who arrived at Ric- [ carton to-day, appears to bo very forward. He will be ridden by L. J. Ellis. Last Refrain has not won a race for some time, bub he is reported to be in good order and ho will have the services of Ij. J. Fllis to-morrow. Lady Rosette will attract attention in tho Penscroft Handicap. She ran two promising races at Riccarton last month and is considered a likely Oaks candidate. Sbe was nominated also for tho Novice Stakes, but in order to get some line 011 her staying powers, she is to start in the mile event, in which she will be ridden by Ij. J. Fllis. Lady Rosette is a half-sister, by Lord Warden, to Vintage and Lady Graceful and races in tho. colours of Mrs. D. W. Westen ra. ' In connection with the Novice Stakes, if it is run in two divisions, a win dividend will be .paid 011 tho winner of each and place dividends on tho first and second of each. SPEEDY TWO-YEAR-OLD [llY TKUCGUAI'U —OWN COHKKSI'ONDKNT] TIMAR.U. Friday Nigger Boy, who is in tho same stable as Yalantua, was a doubtful starter in . tho John Grigg Stakes, but a good gallop on Wednesday decided that ho should bo sent north. Nigger Boy galloped half a mile 011 tho rails of the course proper at Wingatui in 49 l-ss. He had the assistance of Vnlantua, who had galloped a good seven furlongs in his previous trial. Nigger Boy is well grown and level headed and' is well forward in condition. F. Shaw, who trains Nigger Boy, won the John Grigg Stakes last year with Ortyx.
