The Dorian Choir

In response to requests for a second performance of Hoist's "Hymn of Jesus," the Dorian Choir will repeat the work at the Pitt Street Methodist Church on September 27. The work is of great interest as it is a fine though very seldom heard representative piece of Hoist's best music and many people were not able to hear it at the last concert of the choir. The remainder of the programme includes "Hear My Prayer" (Mendelssohn), sung by Gwenda Weir; "Inflammatus and "Pia Mater" from "Stabat Mater" (Kossini), sung by Winifred Hill and Robert Simmers respectively; "God is Our Hope and Strength" (Bach) and "How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings" (Brahms). The soloists on the programme will be Beryl Smith and Thomas Ellison, the organist, Mr. Trevor Sparling and the conductor Mr. Albert Bryant.
