SPORTSMAN FAREWELLED
RACING CLUB PRESIDENT GATHERING AT PUKEKOHE [I'ROM OUR OWN COnRF.SPOXbKNT] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday A large! and representative gathering was present at the Masonic Hall, Pukekoho. last night, to farewell Mr. F. A. Hosking, a prominent Franklin sportsnian. who is leaving the district. Mr. Hosking is president of the Franklin Racing Club and president of the Dominion Bowling Council. He is also a foundation member and former vicepresident of the Franklin branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, and a life member of the Franklin Gentlemen's Club.
"It is due very largely to ,thc foresight mid ability of Mr. Hosking that tiie Franklin Racing Club is in the happy position it is to-day," said Mr. ,J. N. Massoy, who spoke on behalf of the club and also on behalf of the Franklin County Council. Under the able guidance of Mr. Hosking.' the club had grown into one of the largest country racing clubs in New Zealand. Mr. Massov paid a tribute to Mr. Hosking's services to the community as a citizen. He mentioned that for many years he had been secretary to the old Reform Party in the Franklin electorate*. He was later organiser for the Coalition Party, and was now chairman of the Franklin branch of the National Party. A tribute to Mr. Hosking's services to bowling in the Dominion was paid by Mr. A. 10. Whitten, of the Dominion Bowling Council, and the Auckland Bowling Centre, who said thtit Mr. Hosking had proved himself one of the most able bowline administrators in the whole of New Zealand. The Mavor, Mr. J. Routly, presented Mr. Hosking with a gold watch and a cheqva. •
