CAMPBELL ROSE BOWL CONTEST IN AUCKLAND WELLINGTON'S OFFER DECLINED 'An offer by the Wellington Association to send a team to Auckland to for the Frank Campbell Rose Bowl was discussed at last night's meeting of the control board of the Auckland football Association. The fixtures committee reported that it would be impossible to arrange the match owing to tho large local programme yet to be decided. The senior division committee reported on the question of clubs playing Navy players, stating that it had been unable to come to a decision in the matter. After considerable discussion, it was agreed to defer the matter for a fortnight. The assistance given (o the code by Mr. IT. Luke, of H.M.S. Achilles, was stressed bv several members of tho board. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to Mr. Luke. it was reported that arrangements were completo for tho "Stars of Yesterday" match to be played on Saturday week. A challenge to tho winners of this match was recened from the Referees' Association. A recommendation to play this match on October 8 was made to the fixtures committee. The success of tho Now Zealand secondary schools' team, which is returning from A ustralia this week, was commented upon by several members. The secretary advised that the final of the Home Cup competition between H.M.B. Achilles and H.M.S.
