AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP ' £ The Auckland provincial amateur snooker championships for the Billiards, Limited, trophy was continued last evening. A large attendance witnessed the games. The Auckland amateur billiards champion. M. D. White, was opposed to R. Lithberg in the first contest. Lithberg played well against his more experienced opponent, but was unable to cope with the steady play of White, who won the first game by 02 points to M.'J. Lithberg improved in the second game and had a winning chance with only the last four pool balls on the table. He missed an easv brown with the rest of tho balls in good position and this proved his downfall. White secured the blue and pink to win the match. i
G. Lamb met K. Massey in the second contest.. Lainh was very accurate and soon trained a lead with several clever positional shots. Massey played steadily, hut made one or two mistakes which cost him poinls. lie made a good recovery and, u'ith only the pool balls remaining, the scores were 50—3.1 in favour of Lamb. Massey potted the yellow, great), brown and blue and snookered his opponent on the pink. Lamb missed the pink and Massey led .">I —.%(». Lamb polled the pink and black to win an exciting game. Both players scored consistently in the second game. Lamb again taking the lead with the colours on the table. Play was exciting over the final stages, Lamb winning by 51 points to
O. Wade will play J. Rees-Gcorge at 7.30 o'clock, and at S.rtO o'clock A. Spalding will meet P. Hcaley.
