ROTORUA HIGH SCHOOL
TECHNICAL TRAINING BLOCK CABINET APPROVES GRANT [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN COMIESPONDENT] ROTORTIA, Wednesday The approval by Cabinet of a grant for the erection of a technical training block at the llotorua High School has been reported to Mr. A. F. Moncur, M.P. for Itotorua. by the Minister of Education,'the Hon. P. Fraser. When completed the new facilities will make the school one of the most modern types of secondary school in the Dominion.
Recently extensive additions were made to the building to overcome the shortage of classroom accommodation and overcrowding which had existed as a result of the increased school roll, while provision was also made for accommodation for a school library. The grant now made includes provision for metal working machinery, a forge, woodworking, cookery, arts and crafts and storerooms, while the existing manual training building is to be remodelled to cater for training in agriculture and chemistry. The scheme will involve the removal of the present caretaker's residence to a more suitable location and provision is made for this in the grant.
