VOYAGE IN DHOW
ARABIA TO NEW YORK ALAN VILLIERS* PLANS LONDON, Sept. 8 Plans for sailing an Arabian dhow from Arabia to New York have been made by Mr. Alan Villiers, the Australian sailor and author. He will leave England in October for a small port in Saudi Arabia, where he will learn to handle the craft. A crew of seven has been provisionally engaged. Mr. Villiers will sail through tho Mediterranean to the Atlantic.
"The voyage will not He so difficult or dangerous as it sounds." he said, "although the dhow, 70ft. long, will be smaller than the Joseph Conrad. 1 expect to arrive in New York in the middle of 1939 and deliver tho dhow to a New York buyer."
